Ignorant Rap Shit...Part 2

More ignorant rap sh*t fo dat azz...

6.) Mobb Deep

Summary:
Mobb Deep, the self proclaimed Pioneers of "Violent Nigga Rap", have definitely lived up to that title. The Mobb's Lyrics are dominated by Guns, Clips, Bullets and Shootouts. Prodigy and Havoc love Guns! Buying guns, Cleaning guns, and Shooting Guns. In Fact, Prodigy went as far as to release an entire album called "Return of The Mac" dedicated to his favorite machine gun, the Mac 10.

Quintessential Quote:
"There'll be a manslaughter/Right in front of my crib/a little blood get on my daughter/that's nothin, she'll live."

There are many words that come to mind after hearing Prodigy's line from Got it Twisted, "Ignorance" being the most obvious, I think "WTF?" is more in line.

Quintessential Album:
The Infamous

The Mobb's Saving Grace:
Mobb Deep is probably my all time #1 rap group...not because of the excessive violence, but because they have gift of storytelling that is unique among thier peers. A good Mobb Deep track is filled with Vivid images and graphic detail. THey make dark and gloomy visuals, somehow seem appealing. This is largely due to Havoc's hard-hitting dark beats. It is a wonderful symphony of beautiful pain. So Mobb Deep's Violence is not always frivolous, it is just the canvas that they use to paint their pictures of street life.

7.) Redman

Summary:
If Redman wasn't a rapper, he would be a stand-up comedian. A very raunchy, unorthodox and HILARIOUS stand up comedian. he would smoke blunts on stage, scratch his balls, and offend EVERYBODY. Redman's ignorance covers the entire spectrum from the XXX rated Sooperman Luva tracks, to comical tracks like "Whatever, Man" and "I'll Be Dat"...the ignorance come in multiple Flavors.

Quintessential Quote:
"I'm like 'RAUUUGH RAUUUGH' /Like I had Cerebral Palsy/My flows be wet/like all you girl's Draws be.

I always feel bad after I laugh at this line, but I laugh every time i hear the opening lines from "Can't Wait".

Quintessential Album:
Muddy Waters

Red's Saving Grace:
Redman has an incredible sense of humor, and you can never really get offended by his ignorance becasue it's all for the sake of Hip Hop and Comedy.

8.) Sean Price

Summary:
One half of "Da Incredible Rap Team", Heltah Skeltah, and the self proclaimed purveyor of "Ignorance at it's Finest" Sean Price is the MC this list was named after. Sean Rhymes about pistol whipping, timberland stompin', heat poppin, pimp slappin', and even boning his enemy's mothers. My man pulls no punches. He also has NO respect for his competitors and has a general distain for most other rappers. In fact, you don't even have to wait to listen to the lyrics, his 2nd album is disrespectfully titled, Jesus Price Superstar. Might not be too ignorant to some, but the album also features audio clips from an ig'nant ass preacher who's sermons include; "The Spirit of God is omnipotent, Mutha F*cka!" and "I Come in the name of Jesus...If you don't like it, then my ass; kiss it!"

Quintessential Quote(s):

"You act stupid, duke I'm hurtin' your mother/Like, 'What Bitch?'/Commence to slapping her face like a pimp/And put that old Bitch/Back in her place." - From "Violence"

"These niggas can't write/plus they pants tight/And they sweater small/Fuck You, I'm better, Dog" - From "Da Art of Disrespectinization"

Quintessential Album:
Jesus Price Superstar

Sean's Saving Grace:
Sean Price is F'n HILARIOUS!!

9.) DMX

Summary:
DMX is all over the place. He ranges from Old Fashion ignorance to down right Triflin' with his lyrics. The Dog barking and growling is the least of his worries. DMX has an obsession for armed robbery, assult, manslaughter, and sometimes rape. There is often no reason for debachery and it seems to randomly find it's way to the forefront of a seemingly innocent song. Don't be fooled by the catchy hooks and beats...his themes remain dark, dirty and sometimes disgusting. DMX is a very angry man and he wants to make sure that Everybody knows it.

Quintessential Quote:

"I'm A Cruddy Nigga/Going up Raw-Dog in dirty bitches/And if I get burnt/I'm giving that shit to 30 bitches" - Murdergram

"A mind is a terrible thing to waste/especially when it's all over the place/your mind/all over HIS face/how do brains taste/when they mixed with gun powder..." - Tales from the Darkside"

Quintessential Album:
It's Dark And Hell is Hot

X's Saving Grace:
DMX is a very spiritual man. his violence is often balanced out by his compassion for the lord. Although he is deeply disturbed, he always takes time to thank god for saving him from his life of crime, and asks for forgiveness. As I type, DMX is currently in prison, so it looks like he has a lot more praying to do.

10.) Ghostface Killah

Summary:
Ghostface Killah is like a comic book villain. FOr the early parts of his career, he wore a mask in all pictures, videos and performances...perhaps it was due to pending charges and not wanting to compromise his freedom by parading himself on stage. Whatever the case, Ghostface's ignorance is the most genuine of all of the people on this list. And, that is why I love Mr. Ghost like he was my older cousin. He has solidified himself at the very top of my All Time MC's list. Ghostface is a bully. His lyrics are full of violence, debauchery, promiscuity, crack sales gone wrong, beatdowns, etc. And as stated earlier, GHostface is the only person on this list who I can say that 90% of his rhymes are most likely to be autobiographical.

Quintessential Quote:
The entire track "Walk Around" (too much to quote)

The track i just noted starts out with Ghostface recalling a murder, and as if spraying somebody's brain on the floor isn't enough to make one feel remorseful, it isn't until he realizes that his victim's flesh has spilled on his sneakers, where GHost expresses discomfort in the situation. THe rest of the song is an action packed drama about being on the run, shooting at cops, and trying to clean the meat from his clothes. Classic Ghost!

Quintessential Album(s):
Ironman, Big Doe Rehab

Ghost's Saving Grace:
Ghostface raps with an intensity and sincerity that is unmatched by all of his peers. His disdain for most of those peers, also makes his style stand out even more. And his storytelling is incredible. Picture Shakespear with a hockey mask and a glock. Ghostface has successfully forged an incomparable career using a slang and rap style that is impossible to duplicate. And like I said, Ghost is at the top of my MC's list, and I don't see him moving anytime soon.

Honorable Mention:

LOX - The Trio makes typical street violence sound like it is something new and disturbingly beautiful.

Kool G Rap - #2 on my list behind Ghost. G Rap is the pioneer of East Coast Gangsta Shit.

Three 6 Mafia - Their ignorance is at another level. There was simply too much content to include in this article.

Ol Dirty Bastard - Just in case his name isn't enough, the ignorance can be found on any track you pick out of a hat. He is the king of Ignorant Rap. R.I.P.

Too $hort - The Master of Misogyny. "BEEEEEAAAAAYYYYYTTTTCCCHH!!"

Hi-Top

Another random drawing...The eye winking actually started as a mistake, but the end result is pretty cool.

Blue Fro

This is a random drawing...It isn't connected to any of my other projects (yet) but I really like the way it came out.

Ignorant Rap Shit...

People take Rap Music too seriously. Always bitching about lyrical content. "Yo, them Dude's ain't talkin bout nothin...I need somethin to stimulate my mind". For the sake of time, I will not discuss the ignorance of that comment...but I promise that it is real quote from a real person [people].

The truth is that Rap music doesn't always have to stimulate your mind. Sometimes it is great just to sit back, turn off your brain and hear some ignorant bullsh*t. There could be many reasons why this is beneficial, for example, exposing yourself to ignorance helps you to feel better about your own "intelligence". Ignorant music can also exorcise your internal demons and keep them occupied while you focus on more important things like: eating, reading and staying out of prison.

And so now it is time for me to highlight the Ignorant Rap Sh*t All Stars. The following artists are those which epitomize the term "Ignorant Rap Sh*t" at a level that is unmatched by thier peers. But please note that it isn't all ignorance. They have all been able to maintain the balance necessary to remain ignorant, while providing hope that the clouds ignorance might one day dissipate. But don't get it twisted...thier shit is ignorant as hell and you need to be in a certain state of mind to listen to this type of ignorance without succumbing to it's effects.

These are actually people that I listend to and like. There is a LOT of ignorant rap music out there, but a very small percentage of it is worth listening to.

1.) Rick Ross

Summary:
Rick Ross epitomizes ignorance in the form of materialism and frivolous spending. His lyrics are flooded with references to Drug sales, and dominated by references to crack sales and the overall cocaine business in general. He has gone as far as to name a song "Rich Off Cocaine". That alone is the reason why he was the first one to come to mind for this article.

Quintessential Quote:
"...I put a hit on them niggas/They gettin wiped out/They gettin wiped out/but not one at a time/Car full of dead black males, read the headlines"
This line from the track; The White House. is singlehandedly the most ignorant rap line that I can recall to date. The social irresponsibility oozes out of the speakers.

Quintessential Album:
Port of Miami

Ross' Saving Grace:
Rick Ross has a nice, laid back flow and a good ear for picking beats which is the reason for 3 solid albums. He also has proved that Big Black dude's can still look cool. And Magnificent from the Deeper Than Rap album is a definite Summer anthem. Great track!

2.) M.O.P. (Billy Danze Pictured)

Summary:
Listening to M.O.P. is like witnessing a violent crime being committed on somebody you know, and although you don't join in the violence, you continue to watch and eventually mutter to yourself "Well, he had it coming."

Quintessential Quote:

"BUCKA, BUCKA, BUCK, BUCKA, BUCK, BUCKA, BUCKA, BUCKA, BLOOOOW!!"

The Quote comes from the Track, Background Niggas (One of my personal favorites) and in case it is not obvious enough, it is representive of Billy Danz, and Lil Fame trading gunshot noises. It is as characteristic of a lyric choice as Jame's Brown's "HEY" and is what makes the Mash Out Posse (M.O.P.) stand out, beat down, and terrify the competition.

Quintessential Album:
Warriorz

M.O.P's Saving Grace:
M.O.P.'s albums all give the listener a deep and insightful look at the violent side of ghetto life. It is not always violence for the sake of violence, but offers a look into the mind of a Brownsville Street Soldier. Their lyrics often reflect deep emotions such as remorse, unflinching loyalty, and love for Family. And Let's not forget the anti-bling anthem, Ante Up. It was a beautiful track that made all those flashy video dudes think twice about how hard they "shine" in the club. Thanks, fellas...you are appreciated.

3.) Flavor Flav

Summary:
Please note that Flavor Flav is on this list strictly because of his antics when he is not on stage or in a recording studio. His buffoonery on VH1 (Specifically The entire Flavor of Love Series) is enough to land him prime real estate on Ignorance Lane. Flav, PLEASE stop. Stop now...and walk away.

Quintessential Quote:
"YEEEEEEAH BOOOOOOOOY!"

The quote isn't really that ignorant, but I would be a fool to quote Mr. Flav without a reference to his signiture phrase.

Quintessential Album:
The entire Public Enemy catalogue is a musical masterpiece of black pride, and political consciousness. But if you want to hear some ignorant Flavor Flav, the track , Letter to the NY Post, will give you plenty of satisfaction.

Flav's Saving Grace:
Flavor Flav's contribution to Public Enemy will always be appreciated by me. They are the reason why I was reading books about the Black Panthers, the Autobiography of Malcolm X in 4th grade and why I chose to do a book report on Dr. Ben Carson (The first black brain surgeon) in the 5th grade. They made the struggle for racial equality cool, and made me proud to be a little black boy.

4.) Cam'Ron

Summary:
Cam'ron is the only person on this list who i believe, is as ignorant in real life, as he is in his music and on camera. There are no words to describe the ignorance that spews from this man's mouth whenever he decides to open it.

Quintessential Quote:
Every Lyric, ad lib and hook of the song "Hate Music". I have chosen not to repeat ANYTHING from this track, for fear of permanent damnation in hell. It is an awful, awful song. I'm not even going to post a link because I don't want it associated with my page or any aspect of my life. But that Beat is SICK!

Quintessential album:
Purple Haze

Cam's Saving Grace:
Beats, Beats, and more Beats...a good DipSet (Cam's Rap crew) beat is like crack. You listen to it once, and you strive to get that feeling back.

5.) Young Jeezy

Summary:
Young Jeezy recorded 2 entire albums dedicated solely to selling crack in the "Trap". When he decided to deviate from his subject of choice, he rarely exited his comfort zone and focused his attention on buying clothes and occasional references to gun violence.

Quintessential Quote:
"Jeezy like to drank/Jeezy like to smoke/Jeezy like to mix Arm & Hammer with his Coke..."

The quote from the track, J.E.E.Z.Y, pretty much sums up his contribution to american music. "Sell dope, Buy clothes, get high, Sell some mo' dope and always keep the Chopper close fo' the Haters."

Quintessential Album:
The Inspiration

Jeezy's Saving Grace:
There isn't much...but on Jezzy's 3rd album, The Recession, he has a track called "My President" where he declares his support for President Obama and offers some political "insight" and expresses hope for the future. Although this is one of Jeezy's standout tracks he admits in the opening that "I didn't even write this shit"...well, he rapped it well enough to convince me that he really felt what he was saying/reading in the booth. Jeezy to Obama: "...I motivate the thugs...and you motivate us."
